About Us
The main development team comprises 3 highly experienced and passionate individuals, coming from 3 complementary sectors; i.e. oceanography, engineering and informatics and geography. The team includes 3 out of 6 founders and holds ~ 70% of the company’s shares. Dr. Georgia Kalantzi is the General Manager and also the R&D/ Innovation Manager. Mr. Eduardo Pena Vina is the CTO and the AI specialist. Mr. Konstantinos Karystinakis is the Business Development Manager and the Senior Project Manager.

Problem we are solving
Maritime transportation is responsible for almost 3% of global GHG with a projection to double in less than 30 years. In parallel, IMO is demanding these emissions to drop 70% by 2050. There are various solutions that aim to reduce maritime fuel consumption/ emissions. Among those, today’s weather routing has only managed to save 3 to 10% of those emissions mainly because their input weather forecasts are not precise enough. It is evident that today’s forecast models have reached an accuracy capacity due to the numerical modelling complexity of the involved physical processes. AlongRoute is using new, ground-breaking AI models which can overcome these physics barriers by “learning” how physics work. Thus we are able to produce highly precise marine weather forecasts in fine spatial resolutions via a very efficient computational process. With our data, current weather routing solutions can perform up to 130% better than today which could save up to 3 million MT of cargo ship emissions in only one year. Apart from the great business opportunity, the environmental impact is immense, and so we are determined to guide every mile of every vessel with our forecasts towards a greener, safer and more cost-efficient maritime. We have developed and validated our MVP for the Mediterranean Sea and starting to get traction with potential users. Our strategy and pipeline are mature and ready to scale-up to the global oceans in a swift and efficient manner.

Sustainable Impact on Blue Ecconomy
