ESTEYCO SA
JAVIER RUI-WAMBA. President and Founder. MSc Civil Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. His professional career started at the Freyssinet office in Paris (1969). In 1970, he founded Esteyco. For 17 years, he was a Lecturer in charge of the Course on Bridges and Metal Structures at the Madrid School of Civil Engineers. Member of honour and ATEP medal for his contribution to the development of prestressed concrete in Spain(1987). Professional Merit Medal(1992) and Medal of Honour (2013) from the Spanish School of Civil Engineers. 2016 National Civil Engineering Award, among others.
CARLOS GARCIA. Board Member and CEO since 2008. MSc in Civil Engineering and MBA. He became part of Esteyco's team in 2001. As the driven force for the transformation and evolution of ESTEYCO in the latest years, he has consolidated the group's process of internationalization with a clear commitment to transition from traditional engineering towards a more advanced and differentiated technical consultancy.
JOSÉ SERNA GARCÍA-CONDE. Board Member and CTO. MSc in Civil Engineering. Although he started his career in the structural department, he soon focused on the renewable energies. Since then, he has patented more than 20 renewable energy solutions including ELISA technology for bottom-fixed, WHEEL for floating and ATOMS for O&M activities.
OPEX accounts for 30% of the cost of offshore wind energy. Nearly half of this OPEX is dedicated to paying for the large jack-up vessels that are the only option to perform any so-called Large Corrective Maintenance (LCM) interventions. ATOMS project will complete the development, prototype, and full demonstration in offshore conditions of pioneering technology for turbines. LCM actions which will form the first timescape the monopoly of jack-up vessels and will reduce the maintenance cost of bottom-fixed wind turbines. Moreover, ATOMS shall provide a simple and yet breakthrough solution to one unsolved technological challenges for the future of the offshore wind sector: how to perform on-site LCM operations in floating turbines. This solution will slash to nearly 1/5 the costs currently dedicated to jack-up services in the maintenance of bottom-fixed turbines, resulting in a 35% reduction in current OPEX but it will also fill the technological gap existing in floating offshore market.
Key unique selling points could be summarized as follows: ATOMS is the first technology to allow Large Corrective Maintenance operations with no need for scarce and expensive jack-up vessels. This makes it possible to slash the costs of these operations to 1/5 and provides a most needed solution for new markets which lack the large fleet of jack-up vessels in the North Sea. Floating offshore wind: ATOMS provides an effective solution to a critical unresolved problem: how to perform on-site LCM operations for floating wind turbines. This will provide a significant advantage to semi submersible floating platform, but it will be game-changer for spar or platforms
