The CytoSense is a unique particle scanning and imaging flow cytometry instrument for extremely rapid analysis of particles in a fluid. The information provided from the particles is their counts (and thus concentration), pulse shapes and images (which allows clustering and differentiating groups/species). Moreover, our recently developed staining module enables analysis of heterotrophic bacteria as well. The system can be placed in a lab as a benchtop instrument, submerged down to 200m or placed on a buoy and/or combined with other sensors. Moreover, the system can be automated and operated remotely. With optional software, the data can be (pre-)analysed in situ and transferred (via a cable or wireless) to a website, providing info about plankton dynamics, in real-time.

The CytoSense has automated scheduled samplings and measurements; it can tackle such a huge size range of particles without any pre-treatment.
