WeWhale
About the founder, Janek Andre:
Born in Germany in a landlocked part of Germany, Janek has a strong connection since childhood to whales and dolphins. Actually, his first painting as a child was a Orca. He also promised himself that once the opportunity would be there, he will give something back to these animals. That's why he started WeWhale two years ago and will be a cetacean protector for the rest of his life.
Whale watching has been around for more than 70 years and not experienced fundamental innovations since then - noisy and environmental polluting vessels floating the oceans taking millions of persons on board every year.
We want to change this by making whale & dolphin watching noise and emission-free, animal friendly, letting people experience a “live masterclass” to learn about cetaceans in small groups.
Our approach solves the problem of ocean pollution and animal disturbance while being out at sea doing whale and dolphin watching excursions willing to learn about cetaceans and the ocean.
In addition to our excursions, we support the scientific by sharing the valuable data we collect during our daily excursions at sea. This data-sharing initiative allows us to support ongoing research and conservation efforts.
Currently, we have successfully deployed 2 boats in the Canary Islands, one 46 feet full electric catamaran in Lanzarote and one 37 feet hybrid boat in Tenerife where we do our excursions 80% electric.
