MacroCarbon

Macrocarbon, based in Gran Canaria, aims to grow seaweeds on a large scale for two main purposes: creating bio-based products for the chemical industry, like bionaphtha, and producing biochar for carbon sequestration. Our unique method covers the entire process from seaweed farming to final products. We plan to use a biorefinery method to extract valuable substances from the seaweed before turning it into biofuels and biochar through pyrolysis. To reduce transport costs, we want to process the seaweed near the farm, either on a boat or platform. This integrated system is designed to support a global, seaweed-based, sustainable bioeconomy, helping to replace fossil fuels and combat climate change.
