Algavo's Blue Economy project focuses on sustainable utilization of marine biomass – specifically seaweed – to create economic and environmental benefits. It addresses the problem of invasive seaweed, turning it into valuable bioactives while fostering local jobs and reducing marine waste. The project leverages a modular biorefining platform to unlock the potential of the ocean's resources for bio-based products, contributing to a more circular and sustainable blue economy.

Nature4Nature is a spin-off company of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) addressing the problem of coastal erosion. Gradually 66% of the world’s sandy beaches will be threatened by erosion. Coastal erosion is more intense due to climate crisis: larger and more intensive waves reach the shore eroding the beach.
Nature is creating reefs that act as breakwaters protecting beaches from erosion. HOWEVER, the formation of reefs takes thousands of years and climate crisis is not giving nature the adequate time to adapt!
Nature4Nature is a BLUE-TECH startup providing a SCALABLE solution for the protection against coastal erosion. Mimicking the process of nature, we activate local bacteria transforming seabed material into reefs that act as breakwaters. What nature is doing in a few thousand years, we can do in a couple of months.
Our patented technology is the result of 15+ of research at the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment at NKUA.
We are an OCEAN-PASSIONATE team with a vision to transform marine construction into a nature-inclusive industry.

We aim to commercialize an innovative Do-It-Yourself (DIY) maintenance solution for the
recreational boating sector that radically changes the way boat maintenance is managed and carried out. A radically new DIY maintenance solution disrupting boat maintenance management in the recreational sector and small commercial sector characterized by vessels < 24m length. The philosophy is that boat maintenance should be simple, low-cost and optimized to each boat depending on its equipment configuration.

The navigational decision support system NAVDEC is the first navigational tool worldwide that performs information functions as well as those typical of decision support systems. Its innovative functionalities, significantly extending the performance of devices generally carried by ships, have now a status of patent applications filed at home and internationally.
The NAVDEC complements the navigational equipment of the ship. It is a real time system handled by the navigator. The system observes its ship and the environment and records information on the present navigational situation. On this basis the system identifies and assesses the navigational situation (processing) and works out solutions (decisions) assuring safe navigation.

In 2023, HelioRec successfully installed a 25 kWp floating solar plant at Brest Port, a significant achievement given the challenging marine environment. Brest, located on the French Atlantic coast, experiences strong tidal flows and variable weather conditions (wave height is more than 1.5 m, wind speed is 200 km/h and water level variation is 7 m). Despite these obstacles, HelioRec developed a patented floating solar system specifically designed for nearshore environments, where seawater, wind, and waves pose unique challenges.
Currently the project will be expanded to 220kWp and later to 5MWp.

The netH2O platform includes buoys, drones and a web+mobile infrastructure to collect and distribute data. By using patented (patent pending) technology, the netH2O buoys and drones minimise biofouling and corrosion on sensitive parts like sensors or propulsion elements. They reduce dramatically the cost and complexity of data collection and transmission at sea, and increase its reach and usage to a much broader audience. The netH2O provide better, ubiquitous, simple and affordable monitoring of the water for aquaculture, blue energy, tourism.
