  • Your project TRL is 4 or higher
  • Your project sector is in one of the 10 blue economy sectors identified for this initiative

At Aquammodate, we use naturally abundant components and knowledge from several years of research to mimic and reinforce the outstanding water filter design used by nature in order to harness the power of natural water purification. Arctic Reflections

We aim to restore the Arctic ice by thickening the ice in winter through pumping sea water on top of it. The Arctic sea water, when pumped over the ice, freezes quickly due to the low Arctic atmosphere temperature. This results in thicker ice sheets, which are less likely to melt completely during summer. We are developing a concept which makes use of specific locations around the Arctic Ocean to create ice and then have it transported into the Arctic waters by existing ocean currents. Through this natural ice distribution process and the use of large pumps, we believe it should be feasible to save 100,000 square kilometers of ice from melting during the summer, which will be sufficient to stop the decrease of the sea ice.
