Problem we are solving
Tourism Impact Model (TIM) is an award-winning tool using real data, collected from many stakeholders and perspectives, to create an objective picture of the impact of tourism in a certain location. It analyses data gathered from different societal aspects: from environment, economy, society and culture to collaboration - capturing both the positive and the negative impacts of tourism.
By modelling the impact of tourism with the use of different scenarios, it acts also as a digital twin of a tourist destination, which enables strategy makers to consider the challenges, opportunities and future of a tourism location in a holistic manner - exploring the impact of new developments on existing services. Nowadays, such decisions are taken on the basis of anecdotal evidence or the opinions of experts or politicians. A system built on extensive data will lead to better outcomes.
TIM is aligned with the UNSDGs and boosts sustainable progress and investments in tourism and in other sectors.
