Problem we are solving
Sound is transmitted very efficiently through water, with sound often being detectable underwater at distances; so sound is very useful tool for detecting machine failure (underwater located machinery and structures)

Underwater noise caused by underwater machinery gives predictive information on machinery condition, structural integrity and impact to marine species.

Sustainable Impact on Blue Ecconomy
Examining, characterizing, and monitoring the underwater sound radiated from a ship, windpower is important to many oceanic applications: ship health monitoring for prevention of shipboard machinery and structural failures, underwater environmental noise mitigation from man-made vessels. Underwater sound radiated by a ship is a complex superimposition of both broadband noise, mainly due to cavitation and the flow around the hull, and tonal components with specific frequencies due to the periodicity of on-board machinery and the propulsion system. Consequently, different techniques can be used to highlight different characteristics of the sound emitted by a ship.
